Power-to-P has therefore been engineered to create a robust business case by combining low operating costs with efficient utilisation of the entire mineral content of sewage sludge ash.
The process is driven primarily by electricity rather than the continuous consumption of acids and other process chemicals, resulting in predictable operating costs and a simpler, more efficient operation. At the same time, Power-to-P recovers multiple valuable products – including phosphoric acid, construction-grade sand and recovered metals – creating several complementary revenue streams while minimising residual waste.
We recognised early that technology alone would not create any successful business case. Most technology suppliers end their responsibility at plant commissioning. We deliberately extend ours beyond the plant gate by managing the product commercialization.
By taking responsibility for product offtake, we remove one of the largest commercial uncertainties facing plant owners. Customers invest in phosphorus recovery knowing that the route to market has already been established. The consolidated production from multiple facilities creates reliable supply chains and long-term customer relationships beyond the reach of individual plant operators. This enables access to established commodity markets while relieving customers of the complexity and risk associated with product sales and market development.
